Photo from my Mums book - Love Never Gives Up
At school I was known for an unusual skill.
A 'resource' used by teachers, parents and other kids.
At St Andrews, in Leatherhead, from a young age, I knew every single name of the children in the school. All 750.
Not only did I know their names, I knew a unique attribute about them.
My mind was like a database for people.
I found it easy, and as a child, couldn't understand why others found it so difficult.
"I easily remember names, numbers, facts and information."
This affirmation is something I said over and over to my children as they grew up, and something I continue to hold as a source of pride.
So, with that, edition 2 of my weekly note to you, my friends, my network, past, present and future.
Last week I kicked off my first newsletter, co-authored with my son Ross Power , to share my journey in networking.
In a way, this is a live memoir, sharing each week my nuggets.
What's especially enjoyable about this is the bouncing back and forth Ross and I are having over WhatsApp.
"Dad, tell me a story about x y z."
Then we jam.
It's a beautiful experience.
So, onto Edition 2... let's go.
By understanding the power of connection – the idea that the bridges between people are as crucial as the people themselves – you can start to see your network as a form of wealth.
